Capn’s Charters caters to all skill levels and people of all ages. Whether you are a novice fisherman wanting to learn the basics of soft plastics and lures, to an experienced angler who wants to spend a day on the water, Capn’s Charters can cater to your needs.

For novice and intermediate level soft plastic and lure fishermen the day will be spent targeting multiple species such as flathead and jew fish. The charters focus will be to not only catch a trophy fish, but to teach the basics such as techniques, fishing locations and much more. By the end of the charter the Capn will have you feeling comfortable in your own ability to target fish on lures and soft plastics.

For those with substantial soft plastic and lure experience, regular fishing charters are available. In this instance the Capn will tailor a charter to your needs and will try his best to put you onto a trophy fish.

Fishing Destination
Coquun / Hunter River

The Capn will meet you at a boat ramp along the Hunter River (depending on your target species, and tide conditions, locations may vary).

Fishing will take place from Newcastle Harbour and up the river towards Raymond Terrace. With years of experience fishing the river, the Capn will focus on chasing flathead and mulloway (jewfish) within the river system, with the main aim of helping you land a trophy-sized fish.

Meet The Capn

Capn Amy is an avid angler with a passion for lure fishing in the Hunter region. She dedicates her days to the river, relentlessly pursuing the formidable mulloway and the three meter flatty. In the past year alone, Amy’s expertise led her to land over 30 plus legal size-mulloway and 10 plus flathead ranging from 70-80 centimetres.

Her skills extend beyond local waters, last year Amy ventured to Queensland to compete in the month-long Women’s Fishing Classic. Whilst only fishing the final week of the tournament, Amy’s skill prevailed, and she was crowned the 2023 estuary champion.

Amy is thrilled to share her passion and expertise, eager to guide locals to unforgettable encounters and get people onto some big fish.

What a day on the water! As someone that loves fish and fishing but has little experience, this experience was perfect! Amy was able hook me up to fish I never thought I’d be able to catch! Took my son on a charter with Amy from capns charters Newcastle and couldn’t recommend any higher , Amy so was great with my 8yr old son helping him so I could also fish , Oscar after some coaching caught fish all on his own with lures which he was so pumped about and I caught many fish also , was a great day with all the gear provided , Amy put so much time and effort into teaching us we both walked away feeling confident in fishing lures .
